Photography FAQ

How are your photography services priced?

There are a lot of factors to consider with photography, so the price that we propose will be reflective of all of them. This includes, but isn’t limited to, the total number of photos, the length of time necessary, how they will be used, and how far we will have to travel.

What specifically is included in that cost?

Every photography package includes an experienced professional photographer, all necessary equipment (including lighting and backdrops), post-production for editing and color correction, as well as proper licenses for use.

What type of photography services do you offer?

We offer a wide variety, including event (weddings, birthdays, etc), product, location-based (showcasing your business or home), marketing (models, action, etc), and artistic photography.

Will you digitally retouch or enhance my photos?

Absolutely! We will do advanced color correction and editing for all of your images, so that you can receive the best quality possible.

How will I receive my photos?

This will be discussed during your consultation, as there are many options available! It really all depends on how you intend to use the images.

Will we have an option to have black and white photos?

Of course! Let us know ahead of time if this is something you’re aiming for, so we can prepare with proper lighting and angles during the shoot. Otherwise, our editors can alter some photos into black & white based on how the images turn out.

How many photos do we receive with your packages?

That is completely up to you! During our initial consultation, we’ll discuss how many shots you need. Most event shoots will be charged by the hour instead of the number of photos, but all other types of shoots will have a set photo limit decided upon before we begin.

How soon will I receive the completed photos?

Our typical turn-around time for photos is two-four weeks, again depending on the total number of photos.

Why does professional photography seem expensive?

Like everything else, you get what you pay for. A good majority of photography expense is from equipment and the time we spend to professionally edit your images- including color correction, exposure correction, blemish/spot removal, and artistic enhancement. We spend nearly double the time correcting photos as we do taking them.

What is your payment plan?

In most cases, we will require 50% up-front and 50% before the completed files are delivered. Special circumstances may allow us to change this schedule.

How far are you willing to travel?

Our team loves traveling, so there’s almost no limit to where we’ll go! Keep in mind, however, that we do charge a travel rate- so the further away from Portland we’re shooting, the higher the overall cost.

Do you have a studio?

Unfortunately, our current office space does not accommodate an in-house studio. We have what we like to call a “mobile studio”, in which we bring all the necessary equipment, backdrops, lighting, etc to you at a specified location.

Do you deliver every image that you shoot?

No. We take an excessive amount of photos at our shoots to ensure that we have a variety to choose from, but you will not see all of them. Some will have to be eliminated due to poor quality or subject flaws, and the best shots will be chosen to present to you.

What rights do I have to the digital prints?

That all depends on your contract! For personal photo shoots, we almost always sign over the full copyrights to you- they are, after all, your memories! For business shoots, we issue usage licenses that will support everything you intend to use the image for. If you’d like to have unlimited rights to use the image, we can do that too!

Do you backup my images?

We will backup your images on our local machines for about four months after the shoot, and will move them to an external drive afterward. There is a small fee for retrieving your photos after they have been delivered to you.
